Drinking Water Sampling

Water Sampling Programs

TruePani is one of the most experienced firms in the United States as it relates to designing and executing complex lead in drinking water testing programs at scale. Over the past five years, our engineers, consultants, field technicians, and communication experts have helped local and state agencies develop and manage programs for over 2,500 schools and child care facilities. We are committed to advancing public health by meeting requirements of regional policy or implementing voluntary initiatives, aligned with the EPA 3Ts.

Successful testing programs extend far beyond sample collection. A high level of quality control is maintained by detailed location tracking, sample nomenclature, data collection, and chain of custody management. Through our cloud-based data management system, we automate reporting, schedule sampling events, publicly share results, automate communications, and design dashboards to monitor program progress. We also facilitate remediation activities including tracking and providing certified filters, coordinating new fixture installations, and consulting on comprehensive plumbing corrections.

Traditional, Digital, and Hybrid Approaches

Traditional sampling involves trained TruePani field technicians completing “boots on the ground” sampling at your project site. Advantages of this approach include increased quality control over the stagnation period and sample collection process, a complete plumbing profile, and an expedited timeline for program completion.

TruePani’s digital approach empowers individuals with no prior sampling experience to collect drinking water samples with comprehensive training materials and guidance through customized dashboards. Our fulfillment center can ship thousands of sample or filtration kits per month to accommodate large-scale testing programs for state-wide WIIN programs, regional school and childcare sampling projects, system-wide LCR inventory sampling, LCR compliance sampling, and LSL replacement projects.

A hybrid approach is utilized to leverage the advantages of both traditional and digital sampling methods. While digital sampling programs can be a cost-effective approach, it requires a higher level of engagement from participating facilities. The hybrid approach combines digital sampling with a “boots on the ground” approach, to target facilities across the spectrum of engagement.

The TruePani team collected 3,000+ samples at 77 schools across one of Tennessee’s largest school districts as part of Public Chapter 977 compliance. Although the state law required remediation over 20 ppb, the team selected a stricter standard of 15 ppb. Together with the TruePani team, the school district implemented the best remediation options from fixture replacements to filters, and retested to ensure corrective action was effective.
